Carmel, CA Many Medical Professionals Unfamiliar With Health Care Reform Rules

The new health care reform rules being implemented introduce a number of new rules and requirements. However, it's not clear that everyone will be able to comply with the myriad rules and regulations, particularly smaller physician practices and clinics. Even some of the larger institutions are having problems. The Department of Health and Human Services recently announced that hospitals are ignoring state regulations which require them to report cases in which medical care harmed a payment. This is extremely dangerous because hospital administrators can't track problems like new infections which can quickly spread throughout the hospital. According to the report, 44% of the cases that were tracked by inspectors involved preventable health care problems. The authors of the report said that the hospitals aren't trying to cover anything up, they just don't understand the regulations. Hopefully the government can work with hospitals and other health care professionals to get these issues worked out quickly.
