Pebble Beach, CA Cancer Cases Expected To Soar.

by Richard Kuehn on 06/07/12

A new study forecasts that the number of cancer cases worldwide will explode, growing by 75% to 2030 in part because other diseases are being stamped out and people are living longer, giving them a better chance of developing cancer later in life.  At least one-fifth of the new cancer cases will likely be due to preventable factors.  The researchers believe the increase in the number of cases will be due to bad diet and exercise habits, smoking and drinking too much alcohol.  Big increases are expected in lung, colon and breast cancer.  The study, conducted by the American Cancer Society and the International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, France, estimates that there will be 22.2 million new cancer cases by 2030 based on recent cancer trends and demographic projections from the United Nations.  That is up from the estimated 12.7 million cases in 2008.  At Family inHome Caregiving, most of our clients are 90 or older and we stress a healthy diet, exercise and social stimulation so they can continue to live long and happy lives.  It is great to see that there are lifestyle adjustments which can be made to greatly reduce the risk of cancer.
