The September/October Issue of Diabetes Forecast (page 30) had an article about how important carb counting is when you are diabetic. It had another article about alternatives like having a quarter cup of nuts instead of a carb heavy snack. They’re full of healthy fats and protein that will do a better job of keeping you full than having those extra carbs. Eating 2.5 ounces per day of nuts instead of a high-carb snack is much more healthy. A study in the Journal Diabetologia found that people who did this improved their A1C levels significantly.
