Centenarian Kane Tanaka, Celebrates 119th Birthday, Is The Oldest Person In The World

Kane Tanaka celebrated her 119th birthday in Japan, continuing her run in the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest woman in the world.  Eiji Tanaka, her 62-year-old grandson, told the Japanese outlet Kyodo, “I hope she remains healthy and has fun every day as she grows older.”  Tanaka born in 1903 (the same year the Wright brothers made their first powered flight) loves carbonated beverages and posed for photographers last year with a peace sign, drinking a can of coke.  Tanaka has seen five Japanese imperial reigns and two world wars.

Centenarian Kane Tanaka Turns 118 On Saturday

The world’s oldest person, Kane Tanaka, will turn 118 on Saturday.  She was born on January 2, 1903 and lives in a nursing home in Japan.  She wakes up at 6:00 a.m. and plays board games to keep busy.  She says that her key to longevity is eating good food and practicing math.
