Make new friends and bring a reusable bag and take home some fresh produce compliments of the Monterey County Food Bank at the Alliance on Aging’s luncheon.  Make your reservations by Friday, October 28 at 646-4931 or 646-5060 for the Alliance on Aging’s next one which will be held on November 1, the doors open at 11:00 a.m. and lunch is served at noon at St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church at 72 East San Joaquin Street in Salinas.  This one will have a Thanksgiving theme, with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, cranberry sauce and bread and butter.  Desert and beverages are included with your $12 donation.

Carmel Valley Angel Project Offering Seniors Free Thanksgiving Dinner

The Carmel Valley Angel Project, a group of volunteers which organizes holiday meals and gifts for those in need will offer a free Thanksgiving dinner to anyone residing in Carmel Valley.  Local Chef Michael Jones and his staff will cook, all you have to do is pick up the meal between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on November 26 at the community center at 25 Ford Road.  Please reserve your free tickets online at www.eventbrite.com or call 659-5639.  If you need your meal delivered, just leave a message at 659-5639.  Donations to help this event are gladly accepted at www.cvangelproject.org.

 

 

Coronavirus Update From A Carmel Caregiver : National Numbers Are Bleak

There were 68 new coronavirus cases reported in Monterey County, with total cases now at 12,769.  There was one new death reported today.  Nationwide, hospitalizations hit a new high, with more than 68,500.  There were a whopping 181,194 new cases and almost 1,400 deaths.  In California, there were 7,484 new cases for a total of 1.020 million, with 58 new deaths for a total of 18,218.  Health experts expect a big surge after Thanksgiving, when many families likely won’t heed the advice to hunker down.
